  1. Option to record 3D Painted strokes in UV space and not in world space or auto transfer 3D paint via UV space when the new model is imported

    In production the model changes after feedback. The textures need to be updated still. When I import the new model change into Substance Painter, the 3D paint strokes are reprojected at the previous locations of the old model and end up not lining up with the new model change. This breaks any kind of use in production.

    SP is built assuming there are no model changes, which is not production friendly. Model changes are common.
    We should have the option to set projects to not record brush strokes in 3D space.

    Looks like when I paint in the 2D UV…

  2. Automatically place selected layers into New Folder.

    There should be a function that automatically places any selected layer into the folder when you click the add folder button.

    It could be a toggle-able option too that activates when you click the folder button while holding ctrl ,shift ,alt or etc.

  3. Python API > Access to layers

    Extending the Python API by getting access to layer operations like:


    • Creating, renaming, deleting layers

    • Reordering of layers

    • Assigning resources to layers

    • Editing layer properties (Blend modes, channels, opacity, etc.)

  4. Option to disable brush strokes recording

    We all know that SPainter is made this way to provide a non-destructive workflow, so we can change the model, uv, materials and it will reproject/recalculate stuff for us.

    BUT...

    Its about years people asking fixes that enable us to make handpainted textures.
    The new brushes are amazing and feels good to use. But if we use for a long time, the app starts to slow down and the file becomes HUGE.

    My suggestion:
    Just a button to "not record brush strokes in the current session/project".

    The file will not be huge when we paint.
    The app will not slow…

  5. Diffuse map baker

    I would be nice to have how to bake the diffuse map on to another just like in Designer, Mari and ZBrush.

  7. create preset and copy effect

    Please add the ability to create preset in Generator/Effect, and/or easily copy/paste a generator/effect on an another layer...THANKS.

  8. Re Seed All Hot Key

    Current work flow for our current project requires to reseed the parameters for several layers (nearly 50 or so) for future builds it would be immensely helpful if there was a "Re Seed All" hotkey for quicker turn arounds on our project.

  9. Position controls in Painter

    In Substance Designer, float2 parameters can be handled as Position controls, they appear in the 2D view and can be manipulated directly from there. My request is to have this feature in Painter too, with generators, filters etc. A specific UI mode would let users manipulate the Position controls in the 2D or 3D view. This would be very useful for some procedural materials.

  10. Height painting without tedious anchor setups for each and every layer on top.

    If given multiple materials on top it's really tedious to link every one of them to the bottom painted height. A more user-friendly rework, making the painted height layer automatically affect everything on top would cut many steps in my workflow and offer such a more pleasant experience.

  11. Add the brush connection function

    Add the brush connection function, draw a long line, and then rotate the view, the brush connection will often use this demand! The brush captures the position of the last stroke and continues to draw.

  12. Isolated polygons cannot be hidden

    Isolated polygons in FBX files exported by zbrush cannot be hidden, and isolated polygons in OBJ and FBX files exported by 3D Coat cannot be hidden.

  13. Camera without the Z axis....

    Hold alt + drag from left to right ANYWERE in the viewport and affect ONLY the y rotation of the camera's orbit.
    Dragging from top to bottom ANYWHERE should rotate in the x axis.

    A.K.A. Camera controls that resemble: SUBSTANCE DESIGNER!, Mudbox, Maya, 3DSMax, Unity, like 90% of other 3D programs, etc.,

    I've never wanted to adjust z axis casually, it is immensely frustrating now that I can't avoid it... Just an option to make your app less painful.

  15. Implement the ability to move the model in all three axis independent of the HDRI.

    Would love to see that implemented. As it is just now it really hampers the Iray [ which is a superb render engine ] Love Painter, just that Iray is "Hamstrung " by the lack of the aforementioned.

  16. FBX format does not support the function of hiding polygons

    FBX format does not support the function of hiding polygons. Only OBJ format can hide polygons. Please add support for hidden polygons in FBX format.

  17. Click on an anchor fill layer to go to original/source anchor for quick editing

    Scenario: I make a Fill Layer and use an Anchor to fill it.
    I want to edit the Anchor, but I have lots of layers and have to scroll through my layer stack to find the original Anchor source in order to edit it.

    Possible solution:
    When double clicking an Anchor being used in a Fill Layer (see image 1), the program automatically scroll down in the layers menu and select the layer with the source anchor (see image 2), allowing the user to find a source Anchor more quickly.

  18. Render in iray with wireframe as per Marmoset

    It would save a lot of time to be able to save out a render with wireframe for portfolio and technical presentation without having to import it as a mask. If it is on in the viewport it should appear in the render. If it is off in the viewport it should be off in the render.

  19. Graph preset to be controllable by parameter/function

    Substance Designer: enable to control the selection of a preset with a parameter or function. This way, subgraph presets could be chosen from a top level graph.

  20. Stencil size and pan lock

    Can we get a stencil size and pan lock,I would like to keep the same size ratio when stamping a logo in stencil mode, sometimes the size can get accidentally adjusted when panning around the object, using mirror to stamp a logo does not work, the logo will come out upside down. This idea can be used in stencil mode, or in paint mode. Thank you
