  1. View multiple nodes in 2d view

    Be able to view two or more selected nodes at the same time in the 2d view to either "spreadsheet" (view several nodes as rows and columns) or to be able to compare between two with movable gizmo in the view.
    These are features that's awsome in Nuke and would be nice to have in SD

  2. Node as Background in 2D view

    Would it be possible to add the ability to denote a node as the background image in the 2d view rather than having to save it out and import the image back in? It seems a bit of a long winded way to do it if we could just Alt + click a node or something and have it briefly stored in memory?

  3. cntl+drag makes material multi connection

    those 1, 2, 3 are kind of clunky to use, with a pen at least. I would so much prefer to use Ctrl for makeing material multi connection.

    As of option 3 it never worked for me anyway

  4. Drag and drop onto connections

    Right now if you select a connection, and then click one of the simple nodes in the quick bar, it splits the connection and adds the node into it, which is super useful! However, this doesn't seem to work for more complicated nodes pulled from the Library, and, additionally, when you drag a node (whether a basic one from the quick bar or the library), it highlights the connection as if it were going to do exactly what I would want and expect, but upon dropping the node it simply drops it on top of the connection without splitting it.…

  5. Swap inputs when connecting an input to an input

    One thing that I am used to from other graph editors, which currently does nothing right now is when you select an input and then connect it to a different input, it swaps the connection - e.g. if I have a Blend node, and I've connected the wrong thing to the foreground and background inputs, it should be as simple as clicking those two inputs to move them around. Right now it's an error-prone and multi-step process to trace where the both the inputs are coming from, reconnect one (which deletes the other path), hope you remember where the other…

  6. delete link with ctrl+stroke accross

    Usually there is Wacom pen in my right hand and my left palm is over left corner of keyboard around ctrl/shift etc keys.

    I am kind of lazy to reach delete or backspace buttons:) so if we could do it Blender way It would be super cool

  7. node groups

    Please, make simple node groups like in Blender

    select nodes, ctrl+G and you see a group node instead of a mess ,

    you copy the group and get an instance , click a small number and the instance turns unique .

    It might be not providing all that extra functionality SD promise but for every day work it's so, so much more easy and convenient to deal with.

    I also love how Shift+D in Blender makes a copy right in place of the node , not in a center of view in the mess of orther nodes. I like cttrl…

  8. Can we fix the Material system in substance Designer?

    the material system seems a little broken in substance, especially when switching between nested reference graphs, as the material in the 3D view constantly wants to update to show whichever network im looking at, but I'm usually looking at sub-graphs that have blank textures, and the cached full substance shader gets lost and has to be reevaluated when I go back to the main graph. The material settings also get reset, meaning I have to go back to the scale of the displacement in the settings and set them back to the values they were set to.

  9. Format XML for better VCS/Git use

    Substance designer stores its SBS files in an XML format. But it's all one long unbroken line. If you store the SBS files in version control (e.g. Git) it makes diffs pretty useless. But if it just had some line breaks/indentation (pretty printing on XML export) it would be much easier to see what had been changed.

  10. Texture export does not detect write protected files

    When texture files are locked by a versioning software like Perforce they cannot be overwritten. But even so Substance Designer reports "Export done" as if they were successfully overwritten. Would be better with a proper warning that the files were locked.

  11. liquefaction/deformation path

    Can you set the liquefaction/deformation path for the liquefaction/deformation texture? These paths can easily handle some complex effects. Now it is too troublesome to do liquefaction/deformation. A lot of deformation nodes are set, which wastes a lot of time.

  12. A large number of random curves with freely set radians cannot be generated

    A large number of random curves with freely set radians cannot be generated, and all nodes can only generate straight lines or chaotic lines. Without a large number of randomly curved curves, it is difficult to simulate the effect of the real world

  13. Support for Matrix3*3, 4*4, quaterion.

    Pixel processor allows user to make filters with rendering technique. However Substance does not support matrix 33 and 44 at substance graph area. (Not MDL).

  14. Allow multiple instances of substance designer running at the same time

    It would be great to be able to run multiple instances of Designer at (bonus: being able to copy / paste nodes between them)

    e.g. I have a texture export running that takes 30 mins (many UDIMs) and at the same time I could open a second instance to continue to work

  15. Repeat Last Command as a keyboard shortcut

    Not sure if this is grouped under launcher.

    Say I want to "align selected nodes vertically". Can I select then push say G or something to repeat the same previous function without having to click the button again

  16. Relative file link system.

    Substance Designer has file link system based on absolute path. This is quite annoying sometimes. For instance, moving .SBS file from one PC to others, mesh mapping, etc.
    If SD allows user to use relative path, it will give users great experiences.

  17. Bitmap Image resize

    Currently when I import bitmap into my graph, the resizing happens with two options for stretching. Smooth stretch and Nearest stretch. If there is a way to preserve the image size but then fill rest of the pixels with a choice of gray scale values, it would help preserve the pixel proportions for non square image size input.

  18. right click and UI

    I like how pressing space bar in graph window allows for searching nodes immediately. It would be convenient if the same search be made available upon right clicking. Currently it gives Add Node option and it requires for me to move mouse to pick what I need. This would further align with other software in similar workflow such as DynamoBim. Just a thought.

  19. Inject EXIF/Metadata on Output nodes/images

    Had that "Crazy" idea this morning... Why not create a node or a way that simply inject METADATA (EXIT) on output images... That way we could identify an image as a BaseColour, Normal, Height, Without caring about it's naming. And i could write a "smart" script on my 3D Software that reads metadata from image and auto-connect then to the correct slots on a PBR material...
    Is this too crazy ? lol I just want to put the "bots" to work for me. Just checked and Substance Designer don't handle metadata...
    That could be crazy if it works !

  20. Option to Disable windows Auto Dock on preferences (or per window)

    Substance Designer.
    I always work with the 3D View floating and HUGE, and it's very ODD, everytime o move it around and it wants to dock everywhere into Substance Designer screen. It's amazing to have the Dock Option, but it's odd when you don't want it to dock. :)
