  1. Option to record 3D Painted strokes in UV space and not in world space or auto transfer 3D paint via UV space when the new model is imported

    In production the model changes after feedback. The textures need to be updated still. When I import the new model change into Substance Painter, the 3D paint strokes are reprojected at the previous locations of the old model and end up not lining up with the new model change. This breaks any kind of use in production.

    SP is built assuming there are no model changes, which is not production friendly. Model changes are common.
    We should have the option to set projects to not record brush strokes in 3D space.

    Looks like when I paint in the 2D UV…

  2. Most recent installation screwed up my layout.

    Here's a suggestion --your latest version destroyed my working layout. Thanks a lot for that. Why on earth do you think that I would want you to change the layout I've spent time and effort setting up? Way to hose your customers, Adobe! Bravo!   3. Automatically place selected layers into New Folder.

    There should be a function that automatically places any selected layer into the folder when you click the add folder button.

    It could be a toggle-able option too that activates when you click the folder button while holding ctrl ,shift ,alt or etc.

  4. Python API > Access to layers

    Extending the Python API by getting access to layer operations like:

    • Creating, renaming, deleting layers
    • Reordering of layers
    • Assigning resources to layers
    • Editing layer properties (Blend modes, channels, opacity, etc.)

  5. Option to disable brush strokes recording

    We all know that SPainter is made this way to provide a non-destructive workflow, so we can change the model, uv, materials and it will reproject/recalculate stuff for us.

    BUT...

    Its about years people asking fixes that enable us to make handpainted textures.
    The new brushes are amazing and feels good to use. But if we use for a long time, the app starts to slow down and the file becomes HUGE.

    My suggestion:
    Just a button to "not record brush strokes in the current session/project".

    The file will not be huge when we paint.
    The app will not slow…

  6. Educational License

    How do I activate the Teacher's license? I only installed the software recently (Today) and it says I have till August to use it. Will it expire after that date? Kindly help. Thanks.

  7. Add texture sets/materials to the geometry masking dropdown

    A toggle for importing materials (facesets) from alembic would also be nice. Or add texture sets to the geometry masking dropdown. As a VFX user, I don't find much value for UDIMs split by texture sets.

    For material masking from shaders I setup in Maya, I create mask by colour from baked ID maps in UDIM.
    I cannot bake IDs from materials and work across UDIMs with the same mesh. One mesh has to have the faceset data, and another without. (Even so I have to combine UDIM exports in post.)

    both Painter and Sampler are very laggy on M1 mac. It would be great if it worked natively on M1!

  9. Height painting without tedious anchor setups for each and every layer on top.

    If given multiple materials on top it's really tedious to link every one of them to the bottom painted height. A more user-friendly rework, making the painted height layer automatically affect everything on top would cut many steps in my workflow and offer such a more pleasant experience.

    Udim size from 3d don't appear in substance.

    Hello, I would like to know if there is a way to keep the size of my Udims exports from my 3D
    Genre 512x512 for 1, 1024 for the other ect.

    Because each time putting the sizes back in substance is tiring and wastes a lot of time.

    Keeping the (1001namesize) anotation will also be cool.

    The CC / Allegorithmic folder structure is murder to me as a third party who makes tools. Please Think of the children. Or me. Or whoever makes you make these decisions.

  15. Substance reports GPU driver is out of date - It is Not.

    Painter says the installed GPU drivers are out-dated:

    [GPUIssuesCheck] Installed driver for graphics adapter 'NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB' is outdated.
    You should update them for a better experience (http://www.geforce.com/drivers).
    The currently installed version is 30.0.14.7111.
    The recommended minimum version is 26.21.14.4250 (442.50 WHQL).

    The installed driver is actually the latest!

  16. Create a UDIM Description token for export

    Would it be possible to release a UDIM Description (.$udimDesc) token for export?

    We've been using UDIMs to easily paint across unique textures (eg. split Head and Body textures). The issue with using (.$udim) is we then have to manually rename textures after each export into engine if we want 'descriptive' names.

  17. RIP Allegorithmic: Leave as you found it, please

    Hi Adobe,
    Please don't mess with my favorites softwares. Take back at least original layer and mask thumbnails in painter. Your new set up makes harder to find layers in complicated project with hundreds of them, like in game artists workflow. And we are like the 99% of your user base.
    Don't let it go from "top industry standard" to "no one cares because it sucks". I know you're capable of, be aware.

  18. Re Seed All Hot Key

    Current work flow for our current project requires to reseed the parameters for several layers (nearly 50 or so) for future builds it would be immensely helpful if there was a "Re Seed All" hotkey for quicker turn arounds on our project.

  19. Ability to create mask with geometry name

    In guerilla render you can use a node and regex to select piece of geometry you want to assign things.
    Imagine like a fill layer but instead of color or anchor point, you can select "geometry name", and thus, if you named ahead your geo, you can type "steel", "nuts", and it will create a b&w map with your regex selected geo in white and else black.

  20. Position controls in Painter

    In Substance Designer, float2 parameters can be handled as Position controls, they appear in the 2D view and can be manipulated directly from there. My request is to have this feature in Painter too, with generators, filters etc. A specific UI mode would let users manipulate the Position controls in the 2D or 3D view. This would be very useful for some procedural materials.
