  1. Option to record 3D Painted strokes in UV space and not in world space or auto transfer 3D paint via UV space when the new model is imported

    In production the model changes after feedback. The textures need to be updated still. When I import the new model change into Substance Painter, the 3D paint strokes are reprojected at the previous locations of the old model and end up not lining up with the new model change. This breaks any kind of use in production.

    SP is built assuming there are no model changes, which is not production friendly. Model changes are common.
    We should have the option to set projects to not record brush strokes in 3D space.

    Looks like when I paint in the 2D UV…

  3. Clicking outside the [color dialog] Closes the dialog?

    Can we please make it so when I click outside the color dialog that it as if I hit the x in the upper right hand corner?

  5. Have little Icons on each layer in the layer window , to indicate which Properties are Active

    so.. if for example, Base Colour , Roughness and Metalness are in use , then there would be a little set of squares to the right of the layer, each with a colour and a little letter in the middle, indicating the active properties.Similar to the idea used in the exports UI.

  6. Display Texture Information In Asset Library

    When you hover over or right click on a texture in your asset library it should tell you details about the asset, primarily its dimensions.

  7. Version 7.3 color picker lost the ability to view color values in sRGB linear space

    Previous versions of the color picker showed RGB values in linear space. With the 7.3 update, the color picker now shows values in non-linear space. Our team has years of documentation that use the linear values as color guidelines. Inputting a certain value into the current color picker intended for linear space will have the incorrect intended result. For example. 56,56,56 rgb used to read as a value of .040. With the update it now reads as a value of .221. Having an option to view linear or non-linear values would be a great help to us.

  8. Add the ability to create/edit bezier masks in the 3d and 2d port. Also add the ability to use system fonts straight in Substance

    We need to have the ability to create and edit bezier masks in a paint software. The same thing with system fonts. It is annoying to have to use Photoshop or Illustrator to create non interactive masks for a layer as well as have to type the font and then use it as a stencil.

  9. Marquee/Lasso selection tool to move Paint layer pixels around in 2D/UV view.

    It would be great to be able to select pixels of a Paint layer with a simple marquee or lasso selection tool and then translate them as if they were pixels in a Photoshop layer. Sometimes allot of graphics are stamped into the same layer and you just want to grab a detail and nudge it in some direction. Arrow keys could be used just like in PS to nudge pixels even in 3D view but you should be able to grab it with the mouse and drag it to a new location.

  10. Download Materials Directly to Painter

    Substance Launcher - Great product, but now deprecated.^^

    You may want to re-think that, or at least make it possible to download materials directly into Painter.

    Great software works with you and has a simplified work-flow.

    Painter and Materials are not separate tools they are integral to each other. They used to work together - please bring that back.

    OK Adobe is on board now, we get that - but don't push Painter backwards. Those features were there because they worked with the artist.

    Current method is working against artists.

    An please get rid of this ridiculous 5 line window…

  11. SBSAR generator with many parameters slow selection in layer stack

    I am using an SBSAR generator having many parameters (about 500) organized in groups and with conditional visibilities. Selecting it in the layer stack takes about 7 seconds for it to display, which is very penalizing for users. This is due to the amount of parameters and the way Painter processes them, not what the generator is actually doing. Please improve this, you may revisit the way the SBSAR is processed when selected and/or use a cache structure.

  12. Parameter visibility in generators/filters not working well

    Painter is not handling properly conditional visibility of parameters. It works for some cases and not others, this seems to be related to the complexity of the condition. Already reported to support, still not fixed.

  13. Painter: enable saving presets for generators and filters

    When using generators/filters in Painter, there is no way to export the parameters we are setting up like in Designer, so we can reuse these parameters into other projects. Please add this option.

  14. Add hotkey to view mask channel

    In the same manner as material has a dedicated hotkey, the mask channel would have one as well. This would allow easy access to mask channel and then back to material.

    This is now somewhat possible with the "view previous channel" option although if you have to use another channel, you have to always cycle through all the channels to once more access the mask channel.

  16. Substance reports GPU driver is out of date - It is Not.

    Painter says the installed GPU drivers are out-dated:

    [GPUIssuesCheck] Installed driver for graphics adapter 'NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB' is outdated.
    You should update them for a better experience (http://www.geforce.com/drivers).
    The currently installed version is 30.0.14.7111.
    The recommended minimum version is 26.21.14.4250 (442.50 WHQL).

    The installed driver is actually the latest!

  17. Create a UDIM Description token for export

    Would it be possible to release a UDIM Description (.$udimDesc) token for export?

    We've been using UDIMs to easily paint across unique textures (eg. split Head and Body textures). The issue with using (.$udim) is we then have to manually rename textures after each export into engine if we want 'descriptive' names.

  18. Warp projection: auto-project dots on model given direction

    Warp projection: auto-project dots on model given direction

    When in grid dot edit mode, provide an option that will, given a direction, project the dots on the model towards this directions. This will save much time rather than placing the dots manually..

    Grid dot behind the model are too visible in the current version and easily mix with those in the foreground. Also the grid lines are barely visible, It is sometimes difficult to see the links between dots. This becomes an issue when using a lot of dots on very curvy meshes.

  20. 7.3 Color Picker is worse and requires extra steps to use.

    7.3 Color Picker is worse. Now you have to click the "close window" button instead of just clicking anywhere outside the window. Value slider now at the bottom of the window rather than on the side.
    These 2 changes slow down the use of the window. It worked fine before
