Make it rent to own. The way it was at first. :(
I had started the indie subscription for 19.99 a month in hopes that i would gradually be able to buy each software one at a time. I cant afford it all at one time. 2 months ago i was about to pay for substance painter thinking i could use the funds in my subscription only to find out i cant made me very upset. It was the reason i started the subscription in the first place. This is very upsetting to me and i have to wait a hole year before i can even afford to pay for something i already payed for. Upset idk what to do.

We made this decision for valid reasons, making sure that users won’t lose their credit and are still able to own the software at some point if they want. more info here: https://www.allegorithmic.com/welcome-to-substance

@Otaki this is not true: you have the option to own the software after 12 months.

I think that Allegorithmic makes great products, and I have found them to be great at work so I decided to start a rent-to-own $20 subscription for Painter at home. The way this was communicated, with an email with no info... but a link that posts to a website with no info... but with a link to the information... that trumpets the improvements as value added... just rings tone deaf to me. Telling me that its a good deal, or a better deal, doesn't change the fact that I wanted to own Substance Painter after 8 months and the option to do this was changed under the guise of:
"Starting in June 2017, we will stop releasing major numbered versions.
For you, this means an uninterrupted flow of new features and content.
For us, this means a drive to push forward and deliver all year long."
No! For me this means that I can not purchase the software I was renting to own. That is the impact. Work on your communication! The bottom line is that I want Allegorithmic to succeed and to see your products get better, and for me along with all of your customers to benefit from that. You have failed to manage expectations with this update, and you continue to fail in tone deaf responses like: "We made this decision for valid reasons". I'll give you a hint... if rent to own was the reason that people were subscribed, the correct thing to do would be to ask: "We are changing our subscription terms but can give you the option to pay the remaining balance at this time, or continue your subscription of $20 for painter and get access to all of our software for no additional cost, and get access to additional services as well." That would have been great messaging.
