change scale for height color
For some reason, the scale of color for height goes from white to black to white again...? How does that even work? Makes things very hard to visualize.

It’s like this by design, because you either want to push or pull the surface.

No, this person is right. You need to fix the height maps so that gray is the neutral value. The Substance height maps are unusable.

thanks for answering this request from 3 years ago with a comment not at all addressing the underlying issue of this being an obviously problematic way to visualize a nuanced height range. maybe make negative values appear red in the channel view? or something possible to see and differentiate, like at all...? just spitballing here.
