ID Map Color IDs should be spread evenly across the color / grey scale space
Currently ID maps generate random colors - there are in gray scale 256 potential ID's - that's more than enough to ensure that each ID is maximally different from any other ID.
Before generating ID values to be baked the baker should calculate the total number of IDs in the mesh and then divide that into the total value space to ensure that that all IDs are as different from each other as possible.

Please fix the Shelf
Please fix the Shelf!
At the moment it is a absolute nightmare in regards of loading times .. even with a Samsung SSD pro M2.
Hosting the Shelf on a NAS seems quite impossible atm and it takes up to 10-15 min till it gets loaded? I have LAN 1000 Mb/s connection, Am I missing somehting here ? The sorting is a nightmare as well via the buttons in the new UI .. used to be better and at least working before.Thanks!

Import Stager visualization into Painter
The rendering and realtime visualization capabilities of Stager are superior to those of Painter. The iRay render is old and slow (init time), and the realtime viewport visualization may benefit from the realtime mode of Stager. The request here is to use the relevant Stager code in Painter to better handle these visualization aspects. I know it is possible to send a model from Painter to Stager in a single click which is nice, but this is not same as having good visualizers in-app.

Access to sbsar (materials/generators/filters) from Python API
So, first we'll need access to layers from the API of course, I am requesting here access to Substance parameters used as materials, filters or generators.

Please finish the color Dialog.
Please finish the color Dialog. Would be nice if you added an .ini file that goes from session to session and keeps the swatches expanded and the dialog where I left it last. The color dialog is great! But this would make it a hundred times nicer. Thanks for all your efforts guys and gals!

Parameter visibility in generators/filters not working well
Painter is not handling properly conditional visibility of parameters. It works for some cases and not others, this seems to be related to the complexity of the condition. Already reported to support, still not fixed.

Painter: enable saving presets for generators and filters
When using generators/filters in Painter, there is no way to export the parameters we are setting up like in Designer, so we can reuse these parameters into other projects. Please add this option.

Ability to create a new Camera and save it's properties from within Substance Painter
I love using substance painter to apply color an material to models that I've made in Rhino 3D. On most occasions, the built in Iray renderer is all I need to create really good quality output for internal stake-holders to review. The main issue that I run into is difficulty importing cameras into Substance Painter from Rhino. I suspect most of the issues are with the export from Rhino, but if Substance could create some simple Camera functions it would make all the difference. I would like the ability to create a camera, name it, and save any adjusted camera…

Ability to turn off specular/glossy default shading for accurate viewport look
I wish there were a simple way from the shader settings to turn off this default level of specularity/glossiness on a model's appearance (I'm using pbr-metal-rough-with-alpha-blending most of the time). It looks to be glossy when the roughness is low but even without any metallic value to it (metallic is set to 0). Also it can happen when no specular level field is included with the material attributes (like color, metal, rough, etc are enabled). The reason I want this is because sometimes the "shininess" of a model/texture will be misleading looking at it first in Substance and then exporting…

Reset specific layer values to default
Would be nice to be able to click to the right of the value of a layer to reset the number to its default value once its been changed. Like in Designer.

Add Hot keys for viewing angles
Add Hot keys for viewing angles. Like F - Front, L - Left, R- Right, T- Top, B - Bottom this will really helpful. No we are facing issue when we want exact View.

Display Texture Information In Asset Library
When you hover over or right click on a texture in your asset library it should tell you details about the asset, primarily its dimensions.

Please add the ability to add a note or comment to a layer for other artists to read what the layer does

Brush alignment
Could always eyeball it, but it's strange to me that there's no way to align my alphas on the X,Y(,Z) axis.
Currently I've got to export my alphas as an SVG, give them thickness, etc. just to bake said detail onto my object with an ID map.
Basic idea is that there should be a tool to align your brush to UV shells and polygons & possibly snap to vertices.

Version 7.3 color picker lost the ability to view color values in sRGB linear space
Previous versions of the color picker showed RGB values in linear space. With the 7.3 update, the color picker now shows values in non-linear space. Our team has years of documentation that use the linear values as color guidelines. Inputting a certain value into the current color picker intended for linear space will have the incorrect intended result. For example. 56,56,56 rgb used to read as a value of .040. With the update it now reads as a value of .221. Having an option to view linear or non-linear values would be a great help to us.

Organize Shelf
The shelf feels like a hot mess, where random assets are dropped into a deep, dark bucket, possibly never heard from again. We really need capabilities to organize assets. Here are some suggestions. But any ability to organize this would be an improvement.
- Allow marking elements as favorites.
- Provide options to hide everything except favorites.
- Either show materials in folders as they are on the disk, or give the user the ability to create virtual folders for shelf display purposes.
- The ability to directly create, delete, and move around shelf elements by clicking, dragging, and pressing keys.

Allow scaling or zooming on mini-shelf
On large displays, the mini-shelf is miniscule. It's very difficult to make out generator types, materials, etc. Here's a screen shot of my display. Not sure if the size difference will be apparent, but I can cover the entire mini-shelf with three fingers. It would be great to have an option to either change the scale of it, or provide an ability to zoom with the mouse wheel while it is open. Or literally anything that fixes the problem would be great.

Have little Icons on each layer in the layer window , to indicate which Properties are Active
so.. if for example, Base Colour , Roughness and Metalness are in use , then there would be a little set of squares to the right of the layer, each with a colour and a little letter in the middle, indicating the active properties.Similar to the idea used in the exports UI.
