Deformation tools are required in order to modify stock objects.
Deformations are an essential tool in modern animation and scene-setting because even a simple tweak to a model can make the difference between whether or not it has stage presence or not.
From simple envelopes and meshes to more detailed hierarchal chains, 'def' tools are a basic requirement.1 vote -
We must be able to take a 'stock' object - a fly - and articulate it's wings, legs, abdomen etc.
While Stager seems to be bound to serve the needs of 'static still-life' art making, it is nonetheless crucial that it provide animation-like control over a models constituent parts - the wings must articulate. The entire object needs to be constructed with correct rotation axies so that the model isn't just a grouped collection of parts but a hirerarchal system.
Rarely is a detailed model in anything but an ordinary 'pose.' And, rarely is this pose particularly expressive. Without this capability, it will be difficult to wring expression from our $20 models.

Some sort of discount for having both plans
I mean after having personal feelings and then reading the comments of other users, being a ux designer as well as freelancer during a pandemic I can honestly say paying $30 for the cloud and another $40 for this is incredibly steep and also undesirable, when they’re free programs that like unreal engine, free (exceptional quality) quixel assets and blender or finding a combination of cheaper workarounds with lesser known options. Part of being a small business I have to evaluate my priorities and paying almost $100+ a month just for one brand of software isn’t the most attractive or…

Preview SBSAR Materials in Library
Currently there is no way to preview SBSAR materials in the library. Would be nice to be able to build a custom library of materials and not second guess grey balls.

Bake lighting and ray tracing in stager
I’m hoping this is a feature that will be implemented sooner than later, but having the ability to bake lighting and ray traced textures on exported models within stager would be a game changer. Thanks Adobe

Wireframe Camera
It would be very interesting to have an option in the camera to leave only the wires on display, either with the function fully visible and hidden. Similar to other 3d programs. It helps a lot when you have a lot of assets or technical stuff. Thanks.

Non perspective (camera) view
Sometimes it's very handy (for example when placing objects) to have non perspective (camera) 2D views. Front, back left, right, top and bottom view can give a perfect view of the situation. Also for product and architectural images it can be very nice to render them in a non perspective view.

Support Windows Server installation to allow Cloud Workstation on AWS Nimble
Hi Guys
With lockdowns and working from home becoming the normal, studios and artists are moving their workstations to the cloud and connect from any low key laptop or computer. I routinley work like this, especially that as an indie artist it wouldn't make sense to invest in tens of thousands to purchase several RTX cards machine and instead I utilise the cloud to pay for what I use only when I am using it. The options on the cloud are much better of course.
To that extent I use AWS Accelerted Computing instances, these are Xeon workstations with 1,…

Animated camera movement/Objects.
Im not looking to create a movie but it would most definitely be a welcomed feature to bring more life to pieces. simple camera movement along a rail or animated zoom, even animated bobbing and resizing of objects
6 votesWe see animation as an important part of the vision! No timing or announcements yet, but we have thoughts!

Auto-activate collision
Hey there. Not using Stager daily, I stumbled upon an easy thing I hadn't noticed, and thought hints or clarification could help.
I saw collisions videos (jeanette's terrazzo chocolate), so I tried something quick.
I took items, pressed "collision", moved them around… nothing happened.
I lifted all, lifted down, added collision to the ground… still nothing.
THEN, I watched again a video and discovered that the collision toggle, HIDDEN under the selection icon, had to be toggled ON manually, OR press the C key.
I know collision is heavy computing and you don't want it mistakenly on with shouting fans…

Text - Match Character and Paragraph parameters available in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
It would be great to have an exact match for Character and Paragraph parameters, including using option/alt right/left arrow to adjust kerning.

UV editing tools
When you import a file from a CAD file, there are not necessarily UV's or those come from the parameterization of the nurbs.
in a number of cases these UV's will not be suitable.
The built-in auto-generation tool can help then but again there are cases where the job won't be perfect.exporting these UVs for rework in Photoshop is useful, but we would have thought that some additional tools could be integrated into Stager. At least to "sew" some "islands" in order to better master the continuity of the mapping. The goal is to be able to manage a…

save stager models with texture info on a local library

Boolean Functions?
Why don't Boolean functions exist to create more complex 3D shapes and subtract 3D shapes from each other or combine them? I don't want to have to create a hole in a square in photoshop to come back to Stager just to continue modelling.

Stager available as a standalone subscription?
Stager is not available as a standalone subscription. Compared to animation and game development, the presentation of products and architecture is far more based on ‘standard’ materials and there is less need of painting, wear and tear and develop of new materials (Pt, Sa and Ds).
A Stager only subscription would be far more fitting for (small) product design & architecture studio's / freelancers and would be a welcome addition to the available subscriptions.2 votesThanks for the request! I’ll pass this to the pricing/sales side!

CAD import for non-Enterprise plans
Unfortunately CAD import only seems available in an Enterprise Plan, this seems to conflict with (small) product design & architecture studio's and freelancers all in need for a good materialization and render program, whereas traditional 3D studio already work with programs having those functions (Cinema 4D, Blender, 3DS Max etc).
Off-course the Substance suite is big value for those studio’s too, but I would say (small) product design & architecture studio’s and freelancers have a bigger need for a program like Stager.2 votesThank you for the request! I’ve definitely heard a few times that CAD import can be of value for individuals! Will review!

Magic Wand tool select same color / material in scene
When set to 'select similar' the Magic Wand tool should select all the same material / color in the scene.
When importing an OBJ you get a long list of meshes, it would be great if there was a selection mode to select all meshes with the same color / material so they can easily be put in a folder and be materialized.
A select connected function (double click on a mesh) would also be nice to select meshes that are next to each other.1 vote
